Finals Week
Finals week is coming up, and I'm bummed that I have to take 2 weeks off of art to focus on my tests! Hopefully I will be able to take an hour or two this week to paint in order to keep myself sane. The amount of coffee I will consume this week is unreal. Christmas Break cannot come soon enough!

New Project
I'm sure most of you are on Pinterest by now and if you aren't then get one ASAP! It is super addicting and will probably take up most of your time, but there are so many creative ideas posted on this site that I just can't resist! The other day I came across a project I want to make for my mom for christmas. I have seen these photo letters around town but they are SO expensive. I found a site that offers the letters for free, and there are hundreds to choose from. Once I found ones I liked, I followed the step-by-step directions on this blog! I think the final project is way more interesting than a boring black frame!!
The Girl in the Blue Glasses
A few months ago, my good friend Kelly Smith did a feature on me and a painting I was giving away! She did such a nice job and made me blush with all of her compliments. Check out this link and her entire blog for fun creative ideas, she has some really unique pieces!

Getting Greek
A few months ago, I came up with an idea to create custom painted shoes geared towards sororities on campus. So far I have completed 2 pairs, and I think they turned out pretty well! They are so much fun to make. The shoes are a blank canvas, just in another form. Hopefully, orders will come in and this idea will take off! Wish me luck!

Custom Orders
Last September, I was in a local art show called Art in the Park. It was my first show, and it turned out to be very successful! Several people had me do special orders for them, which is always exciting. This is an example of one of the paintings I created for a woman I met there. It was a pretty decent sized canvas, and i worked with different paint strokes and textures to create this abstract painting.

Flying Rabbits: Part 2

Flying Rabbits
I am attempting to create a mobile for my aunt's baby shower this weekend. I am going into this with no instructions or guidance, purely by whim. After I construct the frame, I am going to attach some cutout of animals all over it (as if they are flying?) The theme of the baby's nursery is Peter the Rabbit, but I feel flying rabbits may look a little odd? I may try birds.. wish me good luck!
Hello Art World!
The first post is always the most intimidating! I guess I should introduce myself... my name is Meghan and I am currently a freshman at IU. Art has been my passion for as long as I can remember. There is something so calming about putting a paintbrush in your hand and letting your mind do the rest. I am studying to become an Art Therapist so I can pass this therapeutic past time onto others! I have an art business (sort of!) where I sell my creations in art shows and on the internet! It has taken off lately, which is exciting! Check out my site: meghansimonett.etsy.com! More to come :)
